First time using a caffeine pouch? Follow these beginner steps for dose selection, upper-lip placement, timing, removal and safe disposal.
Read the label before opening the can
Confirm that the product contains caffeine rather than nicotine and check milligrams per pouch, ingredients, warnings, expiry date and recommended duration. Do not rely on colour names such as “strong” or “ice.” If the label does not clearly state caffeine per pouch, choose a product with better disclosure.
Start lower than your usual drink total
A beginner should not begin with the strongest option simply because a coffee feels familiar. Caffeine sensitivity varies, and a pouch may feel different from sipping a drink over time. Avoid combining the first trial with coffee, tea, energy drinks, pre-workout or caffeine medicine.
Place it correctly under the upper lip
With clean hands, take one intact pouch and place it gently between the upper lip and gum. Do not chew, suck, cut or swallow it. It should sit comfortably without sharp pressure. A mild flavour sensation may occur as it moistens, but pain is a reason to remove it.
Keep the first session short and observable
Follow the package direction and use a shorter trial if you are unsure. Stay somewhere you can monitor how you feel rather than testing it before driving, strenuous training or an exam. Remove the pouch for strong irritation, dizziness, nausea, palpitations, anxiety or any concerning response.
Remove and dispose responsibly
Take the pouch out with clean fingers and place it in a bin or the can’s used-pouch compartment if provided. Do not flush it, litter it or leave it where children or pets can reach it. Record the dose and time before deciding whether the same product is appropriate on another day.
